I would like to extend my special thanks to Immersive Media Network and the Swedish National Heritage Board (raa.se) for allowing me to participate in this spring’s programme, which was organised in collaboration with the Lödöse Museum. At the network meeting, I talked about my recent studies at the University of Gothenburg and how I had the unique opportunity to intern at the Department of Cultural Media and Accessibility at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, and study the department’s various programmes, educational activities and courses, as well as how their museum has developed multisensory methods over the years. The network meeting on 7–8 May focused on multisensory experiences and accessibility, where I talked about an educational project that started in 2023 at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. An important part of this work has been to include the sense of smell in multisensory expressions, as scents can be part of our cultural heritage and are also included in the museum’s development work. The Immersive Media Network and the Swedish National Heritage Board have raised the subject several times in their network and on their website, where the potential of scent for museums and other cultural heritage institutions has been discussed, which made it particularly important to participate in order to showcase some real-life examples. The photo shows a national award presented to the Department of Cultural Mediation and Accessibility at the Uffizi for their important work and commitment. Thank you once again to all those involved!
